Robotic cell to test faucets

6 December 2005

Airtightness test

This is a semi-automatic plant to test any type of mixer faucet.
The operator unloads the pieces on three different conveyor belts, each provided with a vision system to detect the articles. Then a robot places each item correctly. Each belt is connected with a test machine. The number of lines and the testing time do not compromise the performance of the robot: its double gripper improves the process result, reducing the loading and unloading time.
Tested faucets will be collected on a conveyor, while the faulty ones will be unloaded in a specific chest.
The maximum production depends on the duration of the test. It is proven to reach 400 taps per hour working with 3 testing machine in a plant.
